Why enjoying an immersion program at A Spanish Odyssey?
It goes without saying that when learning a second language, the more you immerse yourself in the new language and its culture the better results you will achieve. We are Spanish native teachers from Barcelona and we have travelled and lived in different countries to learn new languages.
We have been through immersion ourselves also and we agree that exposing yourself 24 hours a day to a the new language gets the best out of you in a short time, so it’s definitely worth to embarking upon yourself into this adventure.
You will not only improve your Spanish but also will discover the world through a different cultural perspective. Learning a new language is not just knowing its grammar and syntax. It’s about meeting new people, understanding new traditions and customs new traditions, new customs and sharing your own ones. It’s your opportunity to explore another country and its people with a fresh look that gets rid of clichés. And bear this in mind…

How does it work?
We have immersion programs in Spain three times a year ( April, July and October)
We’ll have private morning lessons and related activities in the evening. We will visit the highlights of the city, local markets, wineries, museums and art galleries, we will enjoy the regional gastronomy and will get to know the singular traditions and the last and most important we’ll be surrounded by locals to never stop practicing the language.
The activities vary depending on the city we are in and also on the student’s interests. The Spanish Odyssey immersion programs are 100 % tailored to your interests.
Who can join the immersions?
1.- An online spanish student at A Spanish Odyssey. The students that usually participate in the immersions are already taking Skype lessons with us but please note that this is not a prerequisite.
2.- Any person with some Spanish basics who wants to travel to Spain and join an immersion. You can join an immersion without having studied online with us. Nevertheless we recommend you to have some basics before deciding to join an immersion to get the most out of it.
3.- A person with some basics who is already travelling or living in Spain and wants to join any of the activities that A Spanish Odyssey organizes in Spain.

Let’s say that we plan to go enjoy a flamenco show in the evening. During the morning lesson we’ll work on the specific vocabulary and the story of flamenco in Andalucía, We will do some activities related to the topic: we’ll introduce you to the gipsy community in Andalucía, to the different variations of flamenco music (los palos del flamenco), to the singing and the dancing. This way, prior to the show, you’ll get a wide background to help you really appreciate the show. How does it sound to you?
